Did the Tuatha de Danann live in a mirror world?

     We Silver Elves recently encountered the idea that the Tuatha de Danann, after their defeat by the Milesians or sometimes called the Sons of Mil (who were a Celtic tribe of peoples), went underground as legend has it and in this case that the Tuatha de, in fact, retreated to a sort of parallel dimension that was a mirror world to this one. That would seem to suggest, if we were to accept this idea, that the way into Faerie, is through a mirror and surely this idea of the mirror as a passage way to and from alternate worlds is one that has been explored many times in fiction. Step through the mirror of your mind.

     This also suggests, to our minds, the idea that the way to see into Faerie would also be by gazing into a mirror, or a mirror-like surface, such as a bowl of water, as was the case with Galadriel's Mirror in the Lord of the Rings. But one could also use a black mirrored surface that is sometimes recommended for scrying. Some pagan elf friends who lead a Celtic witchcraft coven in California gave us Silver Elves one of these as a Yule present decades ago, but honestly, scrying, channeling and so on have never really been our thing, although we have known others who were quite adept at it.

     However, if we accept this idea that the Tuatha, who were said to come from the north, perhaps even the sky, surely out of the mists, then went underground after their defeat into a parallel mirror dimension, it may also account for the fact of why dyslexia and left-handedness (at least an occult and mystical explanation, rather than a genetic one) exist in the world.

     If the Tuatha de live in a mirror realm, then those elfae who are descended or incarnated into this world from the Tuatha de, might very well display signs of that elfae heritage. One of us Silver Elves has a tendency toward dyslexia (by this theory she would be linked to the Tuatha de). Another one of our kin is left-handed, another sign of Tuatha de lineage according to this theory we are exploring here, if, indeed, the main proposition that the Tuatha de went to a parallel realm has any truth to it.

     Understand that we are not saying that this is the truth. We don't know if it is the case or not really. And honestly, we don't entirely care. The nature of reality can be somewhat amorphous when it comes to Faerie anyway. For Faerie is vast and contains nearly all things and is filled with myriad varieties and ways of being. Faerie is like the Yin of the Tao. It accepts and nurtures everything and everyone without judgment.

     And we are not saying that everyone who is elfae will be lefthanded or dyslexic. Not all of us are descended from the Tuatha de. There are other elfae folk in the world and always have been. Nor are we saying that if you are of the Tuatha de you have to be dyslexic or left-handed, for over the course of many incarnations one can adapt to this new counter-world. And surely the world we currently live in is a counter-world. After all the normal folk seem to do almost nothing but complain, argue and fight about everything and exploit the Earth and its resources even to the point of their own inevitable destruction. What's up with that?

     It is quite possible that the mere fact of our other nature, our sense of being aliens in this world is a sign of a link to the Tuatha de, although probably that is just a sign of our elfae nature overall. For we are, in a way, alien to this world, although not to the Earth itself, which was once, clearly, our very own before Men came and divided it up among themselves and declared that they owned everything.

     Of course, in the long run, in keeping with the Elven Way, it is really up to each individual to figure out and declare who they are as individuals, as elfae, as the type of elfae or other they may be, and whether they feel any link and connection to the Tuatha de, the Celtic tribal peoples or any other faerie lineage and heritage. 

     After all, our lineage is essentially one of spirit and while some might claim some genetic link to the Tuatha De, the Scythians, the Fomorians or any number of other elfae peoples, it is our spirit connection that is most important. For, if Faerie is a parallel and mirror dimension to this Earthly realm then it is surely also a realm where spirit, which is to say energy, is more important than material, form or biological associations. For the men and normal folk of this world view nearly everything as being based upon and based in and arising from matter. It is we, of fae spirit, who remind them that this is, as esoteric philosophy tells us, the Kali Yuga, the most materially minded of ages. We elfae are fore-castes of an energetic race of spirit beings, who will in time return to manifest more fully on an Earth that is both mundane and magical, both material and spiritual in a Faerie yet to come, as visionaries have often prophesized, which is a paradise, or Elfin, that we will give birth to upon the Earth and among the Stars.

Can One Be Both an Elf and a Faerie?

 

". . . an elf faerie or a faerie elf, or a pixie elf, or whatever, is not simply an elf and a faerie but a mixture that has created something new and wondrous."

       

      Can one be both an elf and a faerie? Why not? Faerie and Elfin are the ethereal realms that we are also making real in the material world through our own lives and experience. We are manifesting Elfin and Faerie in the world and in those realms, we can be whomever we wish to be. Of course, that takes a bit of effort. In our minds and imaginations, the creation of our elfin realms may be quite fast, really near to spontaneous and instantly arising as say magic is usually portrayed in books and movies where the magician, witch or wizard waves their wand, broom or staff and things immediately transform. However, as quick as this may seem to happen in our imagination, there is a time lapse between when the wand is waved, the spell cast, the enchantment enunciated and the manifestation of the desired result. In the material world, this time lapse can be a bit longer, although that is not always the case. But as the ancient saying goes: Rome wasn't built in a day. And our manifestation of ours'elves and the creation of our realms may take a bit of time as well. But then this is about being elfae in the world and living our lives as so. 

     It is true that we might transform in an instant. We might realize that we are elves or faeries, or elfae of some sort, some combination of elf and faerie, perhaps a being with pointed ears and faerie wings, and we might alter our lives by changing our consciousness in an instant. But there is still a necessity of following through with magic, of making our new realization effective in reality by living it day-to-day. We make it actual through our actions. 

     When our daughter was about four years old, we told her we were elves and she said, in an instant, "I'm an elf faerie." So, there you have it. We elves take the proclamations of the littles very seriously. Before their innocence is obscured or challenged by the madness of the world, they see things purely. So, if a young elf faerie princess says that she is an elf faerie, then obviously it must be possible to be both an elf and a faerie. How can anyone deny that? Certainly, we weren't going to do so, because we made it clear from her earliest days, she could be or become whatever she desired. Now, some folks would look at it from the point of view of genetics and the material view of the world. Her father could be an elf and her mother a faerie and thus she would be part elf and part faerie, a blending of the two. Just as one may be of mixed racial lineage in the world, part Asian and part Caucasian or some other combination. The thing is, these elves just don't look at things that way. Which is to say, we understand in a certain sense the rules of genetics, and we have seen their effect in the world, and we are not denying that reality. But elves and faeries, in our view, are more spiritual races than genetically manifested races, although we are aware that the idea of genetic elven heritage exists and is not without some efficacy. It is just that for us our true home in Elfin exists in the realms of spirit and we are making it real, bringing down into, and manifesting it in the material world. 

     Thus, for us, being an elf faerie or a faerie elf is not like a glass filled with oil and water together but refusing to be mixed. It is more like a glass of different fruit blended together. Therefore, you might say that being an elf faerie is like a smoothie. And elf faeries generally are smoothies. And often a bit sweet. The merging is not two things apart but of two or more things that have created something new. Perhaps, it is better to think of salt, which comes together from the combination of elements. It still contains the elements but they have become something new in their merging. So, too, an elf faerie or a faerie elf, or a pixie elf, or whatever, is not simply an elf and a faerie but a mixture that has created something new and wondrous. We could call them elfae, but we use that term to mean all sorts of elves, faeries, others and combinations thereof. The Whole is greater than the sum of its parts, we might say, but really, it is not greater so much as its own unique being. 

     If you add red paint (elf, let's say) to white paint (faerie), you don't get a light red or a reddish white, nor do you get red on one side and white on the other, like oil and water, what you get is pink. It becomes something individually combined from other things. So are all elfae in our way eccentric, unique and individual beings.

     Still, making it real in our lives and in the world is another matter, and that takes effort every day. It is not enough to be a faerie elf, if you are to manifest it in the world then you must make it real, to realize it in the material world. Be whatever you wish to be. But back that wish up with magic, which is to say with the action of living it.
