How Do You Gently Awaken a Sleeping Elf Kin?

"We set them free to dream and be as they choose to be and we do this mainly by example by being our own true s'elves so they can see it is okay and relatively safe in the world to do so,
and absolutely safe when one is among one's own kin."

How do you gently awaken a sleeping elf kin? You tickle their fancy.
Most of us encounter individuals that seem to be elven kindred to us that don't seem to realize they are so and for whatever reason aren't presenting thems'elves as the elfae we feel they may actually be. They have tickled our fancy and we wish to tickle theirs.
We can't force them to acknowledge that they are elfin. In fact, force by its nature repels people and arouses resistance. And force is contrary to the principles of enchantment and we elfin are primarily enchanters. And contrary to popular lore and legend, we don't force people into Elfin, nor do we enslave them there if they happen to wander in by mistake. Why would we want people to be in Elfin who don't want to be there?
Now, it is possible that individuals may wander into Elfin and simply not wish to leave. We are quite wonderful, after all. Loving, kind, charming and fun to be around— well not necessarily these elves, who are busy writing and creating all the time and can thus seem a bit boring, although we are excited and delighted about what we are doing, but elves in general.
But, naturally, we are ever looking for our kindred to share the "good news," is that what they say about the Bible, well, not the good news exactly, but the Great News that elves and fae are alive and dancing upon the Earth and every loving person who is willing to get along is welcome to join in the dance.
Still, how do we let them know this? How do we awaken those who seem to be asleep and wandering, rather like zombies, in the normal world? And again, we say, we tickle their fancy. We arouse their imaginations. We set them free to dream and be as they choose to be and we do this mainly by example by being our own true s'elves so they can see it is okay and relatively safe in the world to do so, and absolutely safe when one is among one's own kin.
What does that mean in practical terms? It means that if someone asks our name and we share our elven name with them and then they ask what nationality that it is, we say, "Elven." And then, usually, they will either grimace, think that we are joking or, if they are kindred to us, they will reply, "Oh, I'm an elf, too," or a pixie, faerie, brownie, dwarf or whatever they may be.
Or we may be dressing elfin, or wizardly, or in some other fashion and when they ask about that we move the conversation around to the fact that we are elves. If they are rude about it, they are not elven, if they wish to think that we are fantasizing, we invite them to fantasize with us. If they think we are just pulling their leg, we just continue doing so. One never knows what a little gentle leg pulling may lead to. But, if they are willing to play along, then that is the beginning, the first stirring and we will continue to stir until the bubbles of realization start to appear and something wonderful is about to brew into being.
As we elves say, "Tickle their fancy and they may get dancey." And that is what it is all around really, isn't it? The Eternal Dance of Elfin.

Put forth their magic every day

Even when they dance and play

We even have a few sweet trolls

With fingers in their ear and nose

What is the Silver Elves' Position about Transgender Individuals?

"... promoting discrimination against transgender individuals,
no matter how reasonable your rationalization for doing so sounds to you,
is just not Elven, doesn't even approach wisdom of any sort, Elven or otherwise,
and is most probably due to the fact that one simply hasn't known them
as these elves have, as our beloved brothers and sisters."

This, on the surface, doesn't seem like a particularly magical or spiritual question or to have much to do with elves and fae, but really at its essence it is a moral question, thus a spiritual one and therefore a magical question and all things magical concern the elves and fae folk.
We know that there are numerous folks who hate transgender individuals using various rationalizations for doing so. They will say it is against their religion, or it is part of a plot by the powerful to turn us into robots or something, but the truth is they just don't like anyone who is different than they are and are just habituated to having someone to hate.
Therefore, it becomes an elven question because hating a person or group of people just for being a part of a certain group is essentially unwise and most definitely un-elven. It is not that some elf or fae couldn't rationalize a prejudice against transgender people but in doing so they are following the ways of the normal folk, of mankind, and thus creating an act of magic that makes them, de facto, more mannish. Thereby, losing part of their elven essence. It is an essential principle of magic that what we do, we become. When we follow the ways of men we become like them. What true elf would wish to do that?
Elves, for our own part, have ever been seen as more balanced in the male and female aspects of our being than most folks. Our males seem gentler, refined and thus slightly more effeminate than other folks and our females have ever had a tomboyish quality to them. This is due to the fact that we tend to be psychologically more integrated as individuals, as Carl Jung would have pointed out.
Some folks may not believe that they have an inner feminine side as males or masculine side as females and that this is just some mumbo jumbo made up by shrinks. But science now shows us that all people begin formation into the human body as potentially female (with X chromosomes) and it is just the contribution of a single chromosome by the father (Y chromosome) that determines the gender of the fetus. When this happens, the Y chromosome triggers latent embryonic development as a male and the clitoris extends and the ovaries externalize into testicles, or one might even say extravert.
We also know that after the contribution of the Y chromosome, the mother sends a biochemical wash into the placenta that 'dumbs down' the fetus tending to make it stronger physically but often less intelligent. We assume this was because cave-women needed someone to move the boulders around in the cave (and now in modern times the furniture), and also needed someone who would go out and deal with dangerous creatures and potentially get killed doing so.
Elven males, being by nature more balanced between their masculine and feminine aspects, probably don't or didn't get as potent a wash as other races do. But we still realize that, for the most part, elven females are generally smarter than the males.
But, back to our discussion of transgender individuals. Recently, these elves were visiting in the eastern United States and a person there, who we have always known to be an extremely compassionate person and exceptionally liberal for that region of the country, told us that she just didn't know what to think about transgender people. Silver Flame asked her if she had actually known a transgender person personally and she said that she had not (and being the loving person she is, she totally agreed that would help) and that is the essence of the matter. In our experience, most folks who voice misgivings and prejudice about transgender people and say it is because it is against their religion or common understanding of people or even because they think it is a plot or conspiracy of some sort, have never actually known any transgender individuals on a personal basis.
These elves have known numerous transgender people and they have all been very lovely and bright people, most often elven or fae by nature. In fact, some of our sisters of the Elf Queen's Daughters were transgender individuals and we owe them a debt of gratitude for awakening us, introducing us to great depths of esoteric, occult and magical lore, initiating us into some of the deeper mysteries and mostly for just embracing us, loving us and nurturing us when most of the rest of the world merely viewed as as weirdos who failed to conform and thus shunned us. We can only think that those who promote prejudice against transgender individuals don't really know them that well.
And really, how is having one's gender changed different than any other plastic surgery (perhaps a bit more complicated) but really, it is, in a sense, not that different than having one's nose done, or getting a face lift or hair implants or even than going to the dentist and getting crowns on one's teeth so we don't look like a bunch of snaggle-toothed orcs (not that all orcs are snaggle-toothed, mind you; it would be just as unwise to stereotype orcs or any other people).
So we say to you again, promoting discrimination against transgender individuals, no matter how reasonable your rationalization for doing so sounds to you, is just not elven, doesn't even approach wisdom of any sort, elven or otherwise, and is most probably due to the fact that one simply hasn't known them as these elves have, as our beloved brothers and sisters.

ELVEN PSYCHOLOGY: Understanding the Elfin Psyche and the Evolutionary and Esoteric Purpose of Mental Disorders! Come read all about it, the introduction, and table of contents on the link below: Readers idea of normal will be forever changed!
http://silverelves.angelfire.com/HAelvenpsychology.html

ELVEN PSYCHOLOGY is written from a unique elven perspective about the present day human condition, which includes an exploration of the psyché of both normal folk and elfae. We elves are elven by spirit, so our entrance into humanity is the addition of a new spiritual race, not a new physical race, and elves have been born in these modern times into all physical races, as well as most cultures and religions throughout the world. In fact, there are many who are following esoteric Ancient Wisdom Traditions, as well as some Tolkienists, who through the process of benevolent evolution, see ‘elf as the new normal’ or majority of humankind in the not so distant future. So, it is important to update many areas of academia that explore, express, and explain human life; psychology being one of these.

Thus this book expands the realms of modern psychology, which has never before included the elves and otherkin population as being real. If one says that they are an elf, most psychologists today will still hold you in suspect of having a delusionary disorder and try to evaluate you further. We explain in Elven Psychology why from a standard psychological point of view that believing you are an elf does not in itself constitute a disorder even in traditional psychology, and then we go much further and explore the disorders and psychological struggles that we observe in our modern society in both normal folk and elves/otherkin, along with the spiritual purposes of disorders and new perspectives for healing.

Why Do We Call Ourselves The Silver Elves?

"....we decided to take on another name, this time choosing the Silver Elves, a name that seemed particularly appropriate as we saw ours'elves as the Elves of the Silvery Moon, the Silver Stars, and the Silver Forest all rolled into one.... unlike many elves, we don't see our tribe as being descended by blood from a particular set of elven folk but are a tribe composed of various folk from a number of different tribes."

People sometimes ask us why we call ours'elves the Silver Elves and like many things having to do with elves and our culture there is more than one answer to that question. We could say we call ours'elves the Silver Elves because we are the Silver Elves, which while true is hardly likely to satisfy the inquiring minds of those who approach us and wish and expect definite answers, rather than elven circle talk, in reply. After all, they are actually looking for something that brings understanding to their own approach to Elfin and something that they can attach thems'elves to or that helps them gain greater understanding of their own elven natures. They sometimes feel that they are awash in the sea of normality and they are looking to us to throw them a life preserver.
And we could as well, and this is really the deep and primal truth, say that we call ours'elves the Silver Elves because we really like the name. As some may know we first started calling ours'elves the Elves of the Southern Woodlands when we were a vortex of the Elf Queen's Daughters in the 70s, associated intimately with those elves who lived farther north of us that we've come to refer to as the Fox River Elves, mainly because they lived in a house on the banks of the Fox River in Aurora, Il. Each vortex of the EQD had a name and there were a dozen or so worldwide.
Later, they moved west to California to join with other kindred there and we moved to Florida, after living with the founders of the sisterhood. And while we could have gone on calling ours'elves by our EQD vortex name, the Elves of the Southern Woodlands, and that surely would have made sense, we decided that a migration deserved a new name as well and so we began calling ours'elves the Sylvan Elves or sometimes the Sylvyn Elves. But then after a couple of years we migrated again, this time to California and we decided to take on another name, this time choosing the Silver Elves, a name that seemed particularly appropriate as we saw ours'elves as the Elves of the Silvery Moon, the Silver Stars, and the Silver Forest all rolled into one.
Now these elves associate ours'elves mainly with the fourth ray of manifestation, which traditionally has green as an associative color. But for us silver, which is a form of gray, thus a blending of black and white, and also rainbow, which is to say all the colors together and blended, is better suited to this ray. For this is a ray of synthesis and creativity and unlike many elves, we don't see our tribe as being descended by blood from a particular set of elven folk but are a tribe composed of various folk from a number of different tribes.
We are a synthesis of elfin folk and like those who awakened us, the Elf Queen's Daughters, and nurtured our elven identity, we are a frasority of elfin dedicated to helping, awakening and aiding our people in their own search for their true natures. Thus anyone who wishes to join us and is genuine and sincere in hir devotion to that mission and quest may very well be adopted into our tribe no matter what tribe hir ancestors may have been.
At the same time, having become the authors of 45+ books on elfin magic and philosophy, and using the name The Silver Elves as our nom-de-plume, the name has become a signal to our kindred of the reality of Elfin and our manifestation in this world. In a certain sense, you may say the name stuck and we have kept it ever since and are unlikely to change it for any migration save that of death. What we shall call ours'elves in our next life, we haven't decided as yet.

"Elfin, Faerie, Elfland or the Sacred Realm or Dimension of Magic that lives at the heart of the Universe, is an incredibly attractive power. It draws all true souls to it. It calls to the Elfin nature in each and every soul. This is the power that arouses the imagination of those who see or read the Lord of the Rings and say, I’m an Elf or I’m a Dwarf, or even I’m an Orc. The power calls to us through Urban Fantasy stories and the fantasy novels of old, as well as, faery tales and movies of magic and enchantment. But it also calls to us from the trees, the wild places of Nature, and sometimes most of all from magic memories of our childhood, which is really our ancient past, our past incarnations, calling to us. It can also be aroused, and quite strongly, perhaps most strongly, by others of our kind manifesting in the world. There is something magical about these beings and they arouse our own hunger for magic in our own lives and souls. These Elfae radiate starlight. They glimmer with love, kindness and compassion; and they reach out and touch our souls. Some might suppose this to be a glamor, a magic they have wrapped thems’elves within to enchant us; but while they are truly enchanting, the magic arises from the fact that they are genuine and real. They don’t need to glamor us. They just need to be their very own s’elves, for that is the most impressive magic of all. They are not trying, they are simply being: being thems’elves, being elves."
—Excerpt from page 26 of Through The Mists of Faerie by The Silver Elves.

Faerie Ethers Strong and Bright
Faerie ethers strong and bright
Do weave together realms of light
And from our minds dimensions born
The dawn’s rays whisper to the morn
And like a child about to sleep
We trust our magic spells will keep
The wicked ones afar at bay
But read it again, again we say
Oh, one more time, be sure to tell
The things we already know so well
We’ll go to sleep without a peep
Until the morning light does seep
And wake us up with morning dew
Remembering dreams of what is true
As elves do leap about and prance
Magic, life’s eternal dance.
—From An Elven Game of Rhymes: Book Two of Magical Poems of Zardoa Silverstar by the Silver Elves

The Elven Tree of Life Eternal: A Magical Quest for One's True S'Elf is set up like a choose your own adventure book for those who wish to undertake the challenge to discover their true magical s'elves. It will help one understand if one is a wyzard or a sorcerer, a healer or a warrior, an elf of wood, snow, hill, ocean, starlight, or a sprite, a faerie, a gnome, a dwarf, a changeling, a dragon, or some other magical folk. If you wonder about your true magical nature, explore the ever-flowering branches of The Tree of Life Eternal.

And to go with the Elven Tree of Life Eternal are our short stories:

These are a collection of short stories by Zardoa Silverstar, one of the Silver Elves. You will find within this book a western, a detective story, parodies of popular movie and television characters, and re-imaginings of traditional fairy tales all told from an elven point of view in Zardoa’s wry irreverent pixie style. We trust you will enjoy them as much as we do.
The stories in Elven Silver were originally written to go along with The Elven Tree of Life Eternal to explore your magical being. In The Elven Tree of Life Eternal, there are different types of elves and faeries that you can come out to be and the bottom has choices of what kind of magic you wield. So these stories in Elven Silver were originally written to go with those.

How Far Back in History Do Elves and the "Elven Faith" Go?

(Zardoa with faerie on his left shoulder)
".... we Elven are associated with prewritten history and the idea of Atlantis and the Land of Mu. At the same time, Fraser’s twelve volumes of research shows that the very first spiritual practices of people on earth were shamanistic, predating written history and religions. So if we elves are the first people, we are shamanistic people not religious people. Our ancient faith or spiritual practice was one in which we used magic to affect the world, and it was later in history that priests came and the religions of the world. "

We are not sure who first coined the words “Elven Faith” but the first time we heard it used was only a few months ago when Candace Apple, owner of a fantastic esoteric store, the Phoenix and Dragon Bookstore in Atlanta, Georgia, mentioned that she was planning in the future to have in her store a special bookshelf for “Elven Faith.” (And by the way, if you are in Atlanta then do by all means visit this large esoteric store as we think you will agree with us that it is truly awesome and wonderous! We feel very fortunate to have many of our Silver Elves books upon its shelves!)
We certainly must go much further back in history than the Celts to find the original Elven Faith, and this is near impossible to do with any specifics because it predates written history (although there certainly are many legends as well as archeological clues that we can draw upon to make some assumptions). The earliest elven spiritual practices were most likely shamanistic in nature and predated all religious beliefs, including the Celtic Faith, or Paganism from which much Neo-Paganism descended (although Neo-Paganism sprung anew from ancient traditions from all over the world). Legends show that the Celts related to the fairies and elves as being part of the spirit world, as life and nature around them, and made offerings to them via propitiation (see the works of Lawrence Gardner and Nicholas De Vere). The Celts perceived the elves as a sort of force around them and called them the “good neighbors” because they wanted to relate to them in positive ways. But the Celts did not see themselves as elves, and instead saw themselves as a separate race from the elves, from the Tuatha Dé Danann who they saw as a supernatural powerful people. In a certain sense the Norse were closer to the elves or being Elven in spirit than the Celts, because much like Tolkien does in his fiction, the Norse believed that some of their people could become Elven by achieving greatness.
The shamanic faith is a faith in magic and a faith in the ability of each person to use magic to change and affect their lives and the world around them without worshiping, praying to, or propitiating deities (see Sir James Fraser’s The Golden Bough). In ancient Eastern spiritual practices, we also find this elven view and understanding that we are the Creators of our own reality.  For example, this is continually mentioned in The Tibetan Book of the Dead, a funerary text that is a guide through the intermediate state (or bardo) between death and rebirth. In it, liberation is outlined to be achieved by recognizing our own ability as Creators and oneness with the Divine Energy. A very Elven view indeed, particularly when understood in a magical sense!
Almost all lore that talks about faeries and elves says we are the Eldar race, most likely the first people to arise as a civilization. Thus we Elven are associated with pre-written history and the idea of Atlantis and the Land of Mu. At the same time, Fraser’s twelve volumes of research shows that the very first spiritual practices of people on earth were shamanistic, predating written history and religions. So if we elves are the first people, we are shamanistic people not religious people. Our early faith or spiritual practice was one in which we used magic to affect the world, and it was later in history that priests came and the religions of the world were created. Intermediaries with the spirit world, the idea of Gods/Goddesses, and so forth, including Paganism, all came later than our earliest Elven spiritual practices that where shamanistic in nature.
Similar to the early Elven spiritual practices, we Silver Elves can say that for us our modern Elven Way is not a religion of any sort but more kin to shamanism, to viewing ourselves as one with Nature and the Divine Magic. Generally, elves prefer to say that we have an Elven Way or Elven Path rather than an Elven Faith, as ours is not a religion but a spiritual path of individual development and s'Elf awareness, awakening to being an elf in a human body. The Faerie Faith essentially practices the belief in fairies and the understanding that they exist, but unlike the Elven Way, it does not practice the awareness of being a faerie oneself. While the Elven Way is not really a faith or religion and we do not worship any gods or goddesses, we do believe in them as real energies and we have respect for all Higher Beings. We Silver Elves do not follow Pagan traditions and ceremonies, but instead (and we do not speak for all elves as we are a varied magical people) tend to be more shamanistic and evoke Elven spirits of nature and the elven elementals as helpers/partners in our magic for healing and enchantment.

If you enjoyed this post, then you may well wish to read some of our books that cover our spirituality including our views on shamanistic practices from an Elven point of view. We suggest Liber Aelph: Words of Guidance from the Silver Elves to our Magical Children. While this book covers a multitude of subjects related to Elven magic, it also includes chapters specifically on shamanism and multiple s'elves, on journeying out of body, and on your true nature from a shamanistic and magical perspective.

The cover photo on Liber Aelph is taken by the Silver Elves of their children with Bedivere the Unicorn, who was raised by Oberon Zell-Ravenheart, author of Grimoire For The Apprentice Wizard and other works on magic. Petting the unicorn is our beloved faerie sister, Annette Aiea Day,
author of The Magic of Art for Therapy.

Also, in our book Living the Personal Myth: Making the Magic of Faerie Real in One's Own Life, more may be read on our Elven heritage, including our own descent from the Pict-Sidhe (pixies), the Merovingian Fisher Kings (the fae or fairy folk), and the Albigens, the Elven Bloodline. While we do not feel that bloodline is near as important as the spiritual component of being Elven in ones present life, we find the study of the Elven bloodline interesting. We also cover in this book the future prophesy and new mythos of elves with The Return of Faerie and The Starlight Path.

For those wondering . . . . this is our The Silver Elves lineage at a glance drawn out by Zardoa Silver Star of The Silver Elves.  For those viewing it, the 'vortexes' are what The Elf Queen's Daughters (EQD, 1974-1977) called their elven covens (they were elven witches), of which we were the vortex/coven named the Elves of the Southern Woodlands (see on right side). Later when the EQD disband in 1977, we began calling ours'elves the Sylvan Elves and then we changed our name to The Silver Elves when we migrated to California and began writing our Magical Elven Love Letters. We thought you might enjoy seeing this drawn out and viewing the dozen or so vortexes/elven covens of the EQD in those early times. The EQD were the first elven group in the modern times to publish articles and they also were the first of the modern elven to adopted the 7 pointed star as the elven star. How fortunate we were to be a part of this amazing group of elves and we Silver Elves are forever thankful for our elven ancestors The Elf Queen's Daughters (see our The Silver Elves books on Amazon titled Elf Magic Mail, volume 1 & also volume 2, for more on The EQD).

If you are elves, why don’t you have pointed ears?
