How Does One Begin on the Path to Elfin?



"In seeing that one can be and become an elfae, one must then decide whether one is willing and able to endure the social scorn and ridicule and potentially in some areas, down right persecution. Having made the decision to continue on, sometimes in secret, one steps upon the Path and endeavors to improve their s'elf in every fashion one can. In fact, that is the Path. Improving yours'elf in all ways as an elfae being constitutes the Path itself....we are, as a people, quite enchanting and our culture speaks to the inner, primal, unconscious drives of all humanity and really the all of life to be better, grow stronger, live longer and be happy ever after."


     There are really a number of ways to start on the Path to Elfin because, first of all, there are many paths to Elfin. We could say that every person who seeks to be a better person, not simply more power as an individual, but better as a soulful spirit interacting with others in the Universe is, in a sense, on the Path to Elfin. Although, they thems'elves may not see it that way. It is just that we, as elves, appreciate the essential elfinness, the striving toward perfection of the individual in harmony with others and the environment, that exists in others whether they have even heard of elves or believe in elves or not. Still, we ever respect what others declare to us that they are, which is most often what and whom they are striving to be as an individual, although, like children who first wish to be doctors and then musicians and then painters, etc., the exact nature of their aspiration may change. Their will to be and become, however, is ultimately sacrosanct.
     So, while we Silver Elves accept all sorts of others as being elfin, it is the individual their own s'elf who must step upon the path and set their will toward becoming ever greater not only as an individual but as an elfin spirit with an elfin soul. Therefore, the beginning of the Path to Elfin always depends upon each individual and hir (her/his) own relationship to Elfin, which also usually means a relationship with a kindred feeling for other elves, elfae, faeries, otherkin and the vaster realms of Faerie in which and from which Elfin manifests. It is the individual's own desire to be an elf that often initiates this step upon the path and this most frequently begins when the individual begins to imagine and fantasize about being elven, or fae or other and about being and living in Elfin and Faerie.
     The next step is the profound one, at least it often manifests in an individual as an amazing and illuminating realization. And that revelation is that it is actually possible to be an elf and to become ever more elfin, more powerful, more magical, more truly elfin or other as one continues upon the Path. Although, often it involves a choice as well. In seeing that one can be and become an elfae, one must then decide whether one is willing and able to endure the social scorn and ridicule and potentially in some areas, down right persecution. For most folks, while they may have some elfae blood within them, the lack of social acceptance and thus possibility of succeeding in the world of the Normal folk is too much to bare or perhaps dare. 
     Having made the decision to continue on, sometimes in secret, one steps upon the Path and endeavors to improve their s'elf in every fashion one can. In fact, that is the path. Improving yours'elf in all ways as an elfae being constitutes the path itself (see our book
The Elven Way: The Magical Path of The Shining Ones, from which you may read an excerpt on "Levels of Initiation" from chapter 9 by scrolling below). 
     When we say improving and developing ours'elves in all ways, we mean by making our bodies stronger, more flexible, resilient and healthier as best we may so we can increase our possibilities of longevity (an elven virtue and long a quality of elves according to lore both ancient and modern). And we also mean developing by improving our minds in every way that we can, which means learning all we can on our own, and seeking education and mental development in all ways but especially everything concerning the esoteric arts of magic, astral travel, out of the body experience, enchantment, astrology, divination and the ancient lore and philosophy concerning the elven and elfae. But also, by learning all we can about everything that interests us is suggested as well. Following one's personal interests is a key to the elven educational technique. Learning to use logic and reason and learning and understanding the scientific method is, despite what many might think, quite elven.
     Developing our souls, which involves our feelings and our sense of connection to the Universe, Nature and all others, is important as well, actually essential to developing our s'elves. Soulless magic, while it can be precise is ... well, soulless. It lacks that special something. It's like canned laughter and elevator muzak. It is fine for pacifying the zombies but doesn't really move the elves. So it is that improving and empowering our personalities is very important. We are enchanters after all (see our book The Keys of Elfin Enchantment).
     And, of course, we need to increase the power and endurance of our spirits. There is no precise way to do this except to persevere, to keep on, to have faith in the path and mostly faith in ones'elf and one's aspirations and, therefore, faith one's own desire to become more magically adept, to attain mastery despite all the odds that stand against us. 
     For surely our elven culture has endured, despite millennia of persecution, enculturation and just plain ignorance and apathy concerning our magical people. And this is mostly so because we are, as a people, quite enchanting and our culture speaks to the inner, primal, unconscious drives of all humanity and really the all of life to be better, grow stronger, live longer and be happy ever after.

Levels of Initiations


"The Initiations are linked to the chakras and to the seven rays of manifestation and by examining the influences of these aspects one can come to understand the process of our development."

1.    "The First Initiation is at its root connected to the urge to survive that is linked with the first chakra. For the elf, this means not only developing financial independence in the world, but first and foremost, developing a sense of the independence, a sense of s’elf worth, and the right to think for ones’elf, to choose one’s own direction. Thus in time this initiation also leads to the growth of leadership abilities. By that we do not necessarily mean authority, which is to say power over others, but becoming an example, an exemplar, that inspires others to pursue their own elven path. The first initiation gives one a basic grip on making a living in the world, of supporting ones’elf; however, it should be noted that for some advanced adepts, the Shining Ones temporarily take care of this aspect by sending others to provide the support the elf needs to fulfill hir particular mission."


2.     "The Second Initiation is in its lowest level about making contact and connection with others. It demands the most basic ability to cooperate with others and fulfills the need that nearly all individuals experience to interact with other beings. It develops into the power to draw others toward one. Thus it involves the development of attraction, particularly but not exclusively erotic attraction for it also involves the energy by which one requires and attains friends, allies and companions on the Way. After the elf awakens, discovers hir [our elven word for 'his or her'] true nature and confirms hir right to pursue hir own direction in life, sHe [our elven word for 'he or she'] almost immediately hungers to share this with others like hir and therefore actively seeks hir kindred. This second initiation establishes hir power to succeed in that quest. In its higher aspects this power develops into compassion and true and unattached love, which is to say love without expectation."

3.   "The Third Initiation involves an expansion of power. It also involves the acquisition of knowledge. The elf believes in hir path and pursues it with hir kindred, now sHe desires and begins to demand to get at least basic recognition from others on other spiritual paths. To do this, however, sHe finds sHe has to acquire the knowledge to explain the path in a way that these others will comprehend, as well as, explain it to other elves who are also seeking. What is the Elven Way? How is it distinguished from various religions, and how does one follow, or pursue, this path? Thus the elven adept becomes increasingly able to answer these questions, establish hir own eald in the world, and create a secure place for the kindred to live and gather? To do this sHe often delves deeply into the magical, religious, mystical, spiritual, occult, and esoteric traditions from cultures all over the world, eclectically adapting everything of value to hir own needs and transforming all into hir elven understanding."

4.     "The Fourth Initiation follows the work of the third initiation of synthesizing all one encounters into an understanding of the world and of Faerie. This fourth initiation is harmonizing in nature. It understands that all differences are differences of appearance and essential for the value of aesthetics and that beneath all things the Universe is One. The elf sees the Universe and the world as a full palette of colors with each culture and every dimension contributing to the infinite possibility of the beauty of creation. The impulse of this fourth level is both one of blending and creativity, and it is here that the elven adept firmly begins to express hir own unique contribution to elven philosophy, lore and, in time, history."

5.     "The Fifth Initiation introduces the elven adept to the more subtle dimensions of the Shining Ones and the elf begins to truly specialize, that is plunge in depth into the aspects and powers that sHe has, heretofore, been exploring. SHe finds that all the skills and talents sHe has been developing heretofore merge into a unique talent, or really style, that is her very own. SHe takes hir place among the planetary builders and maintainers, or among the great teachers, scientists or inventors of humanity, and begins to affect the consciousness of the human race as a whole. SHe becomes a shaper of worlds."

6.     "The Sixth Initiation finds the elven adept harmonizing hir creation with other creations. Hir eald takes its place, shall we say in an intimate and loving fashion, among the other realms of Faerie. At this point the elf is beyond what we normally think of as human, and functions in dimensions that are in many ways only tenuously connected to the mundane plane. However, these adepts are connected and oversee the development of the Sixth Root Race, which is an elven race more on the lines of the nearly immortal elves that Tolkien envisioned. They also oversee the sixth-sub race of the fifth root race, the precursor to the sixth root race (and in fact every sixth sub-race), which is just now beginning to manifest on the earth bringing Elven light and magic into the world."

7.     "With the Seventh Initiation one truly enters the realm of the Shining Ones, those angelic elven beings of light who are pure sentient energy. These individuals oversee the future of evolution but in such a distant time and fashion that they are beyond our understanding without extending our minds intuitively beyond the limitations of the mundane world entirely. They might be conceived of as pure light, pure love, and pure being. They are unique stars in the starry universe. They oversee the evolution of the seventh root race, those being who will gradually become beings of light, and therefore also oversee the development of the seventh sub-race of every previous root race, which are the precursors for the seventh root race."

A Short description of The Elven Way

“The Elven Way is the spiritual path of the Elves. It is not a religion. While all elves are free to pursue whatever spiritual path they desire, or not as the case may be, The Silver Elves are magicians and follow no particular religious dogma. We do however believe in all the Gods and Goddesses, (also Santa Claus [to whom we’re related], the tooth fairy [distant cousins] and the Easter or Ostara Bunny [no relation]) and try to treat them all with due respect. The Elven Way promotes the principles of Fairness, that is to say both Justice, Elegance and Equal Opportunity and Courtesy that is respectful in its interactions and attitude toward all beings, great or small. We understand the world as a magical or miraculous phenomena, and that all beings, by pursuing their own true path, will become whomever they truly desire to be. Our path is that of Love and Magic and we share our way with all sincerely interested individuals.”

“To remind us ever of the need to rise up and lift our others with us, to have compassion for others even those who oppose us, to endeavor to understand the true natures and motivations not only of ours’elves but all others, the Shining Ones send us Sages who appear in many forms, in nearly all cultures and speak though various social and religious philosophies encouraging us to strive toward the light, to seek ever the good of all, and to further spiritual evolution in all that we do. For those wondering . . . . this is our The Silver Elves lineage at a glance drawn out by Zardoa Silver Star of The Silver Elves.  For those viewing it, the 'vortexes' are what The Elf Queen's Daughters (EQD, 1974-1977) called their elven covens (they were elven witches), of which we were the vortex/coven named the Elves of the Southern Woodlands (see on right side of chart). Later when the EQD disband in 1977, we began calling ours'elves the Sylvan Elves and then we changed our name to The Silver Elves when we migrated to California and began writing our Magical Elven Love Letters. We thought you might enjoy seeing this drawn out and viewing the dozen or so vortexes/elven covens of the EQD in those early times. The EQD were the first elven group in the modern times to publish articles and they also were the first of the modern elven to adopted the 7 pointed star as the elven star. How fortunate we were to be a part of this amazing group of elves and we Silver Elves are forever thankful for our elven ancestors The Elf Queen's Daughters (see our The Silver Elves books on Amazon titled Elf Magic Mail, volume 1 & also volume 2, for more on The EQD).
